Pet Sounds Entry

The Beach Boys are the only prolific rock group originating from the 60s that came close to reach the same status as The Beatles. Before their iconic album Pet Sounds, the band had a rough time keeping up and impressing big names such as Capitol Records in which later on would sign The Beach Boys and go on to create 36 Top 40 hits.

Leader and songwriter of The Beach Boys Brian Wilson had an enormous impact on the bands success and future. Wilson practically wrote every song on his own being the only songwriter of the group.

Pet Sounds was written and recorded under the influence of The Beatles album Rubber Soul.

Aside from being considered as one of the greatest albums of all time, Pet Sounds had a distinct sound that reminds the listener of waves and baking under the summer sun while at the beach. The wavy guitar phrases and rich vocal harmonies were reasonably only heard from The Beach Boys. Pet Sounds had favorable elements that grab the listener and takes them on a wild goose chase.

This album gives the listener a retro look on how music from 50 years ago sounded and what it took to reach a level of high standing.

  1. I agree with Gustavo that this was a tremendous break out pioneers. I wish the band had gotten more esteem then the Beatles for what they brought to the table. Brian wilson was an absolute genius and carried a whole band by himself.I believe the Beatles wouldn't have been half as good without the musical influence of the Beach Boys.Pet sounds will always be a timeless album that is renown all over the world. The distinct sound of Pet sounds shaped rock music forever. Your music is truly remarkable when it alters your genre forever.I agree with Gustavo 100%.

  2. Dear Gustavo,

I thought this was another great entry in your music blog. The Beach Boys gave a great foundation for artists such as The Beatles to talk about more controversial topics that don't necessarily cater to pop music or radio play. It is amazing to think how influential both the Beatles and The Beach Boys were towards each other in creating diverse music on topics never discussed in contemporary music at the time it was made. My only constructive criticism would have been to include a little more detail on the band as I feel there wasn't enough information as much as you put into your other entries. Other than that good job.

    Adam
